Laminate flooring is the newest and hottest trend to hit the residential flooring industry since the early days of linoleum!
Simply put, it's an ultra-durable product that looks like a real wood or stone floor, yet costs about one-third less than the 'real thing,' it is easier to install and typically lasts longer. Laminate also offers a variety of other benefits, including:
- High UV resistance, blocking the sun's harmful rays and protecting the floor pattern from fading over time. - Easy installation. - Excellent warranty protection. - Easy repairs, since damaged planks can be replaced without contrasting with the pattern of surrounding boards. - Easy cleaning, since laminate flooring doesn't trap dirt. Most spills can be cleaned up with a terry cloth mop, Swiffer or sponge.
Laminate flooring gives you flexibility. Wood grains and lightly colored stone patterns provide the opportunity to dramatically alter the overall look and feel of a room by changing some of the accents. A guest room, for example, can change with the seasons by simply changing out the linens. Look at your flooring options from different angles: laminate-flooring planks can be installed on the diagonal (instead of straight) -- and tiles can either be laid corner-to-corner or in a staggered manner to create a variety of different looks. You'll need to add an extra 15-20% more material for waste for these types of installations, but the results are worth it!
With so many wood grain looks available in laminate, most consumers are tempted to try to match new flooring to the color of existing cabinetry. And while it may work out in some instances, you will probably be more satisfied with the end result if you choose a contrasting or coordinating look. Looking to add an instant designer touch to your home? Try combining two different patterns to create custom looks like checkerboards, borders or insets -- just be sure that both patterns are from the same product line.

Together with Eastern Shore Maryland and Virginia, Delaware occupies the Delmarva peninsula. It lies on the northeast of the peninsula, facing the Delaware River, which broadens into Delaware Bay; the bay in turn joins the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Henlopen. Delaware is sometimes called the Diamond State, a reference to its small size but relative wealth. With the Delaware River and Bay along its entire eastern edge, no place in the narrow state is far from water.
Many small rivers flow across the state, some flowing E to the Delaware, others W across Maryland to the Chesapeake. In the north the Christina and Brandywine flow into the Delaware; in the south the Nanticoke flows SW to Chesapeake Bay. The land is low-lying, from sand dunes in the south to little hills on the Pennsylvania border in the north; the average elevation is c.60 ft (18 m), and the highest point, NW of Wilmington on the Pennsylvania border, is only 440 ft (134 m). The capital is Dover, and the only large city is Wilmington.
